Sub 41mm is a perfect size and in its new iteration, the case shape closely matches the SD43 (more curvy than 116610 series), so really if you get the new Sub 41mm, you will have the best of both worlds. I have felt that SD43 is the best generation of SD if one is conflicted vs. sub: wider bracelet, updated movement, appropriate lug widths on case (compared to maxi case sub), cyclops (heresy, I know), matte black dial with some grey hue (sub has deeper black), and of course the striking red font. IMHO, the SD43 is the best diver Rolex currently makes. The only way I would advise against it is if you have a wrist that is smaller than 7”. I think the subs are great.
The SD43 is a great one watch collection and your wrist gets used to it, but when u have a collection u gravitate to whats comfortable. the new 41 sub imo is perfect, the sd43 is slightly too big for my 7.5 inch wrist.
